88 Generation Students (Exile)
International Campaign for Visa Ban on the Military Regime of Burma
29th January, 2008
To
All Pro Democracy Activists and Fellow Citizenship of Burma
We have been expressed, the concern of ours societies at the continued oppression of the people of Burma since 1988. The people of Burma deserve to enjoy basic liberties such as freedom of speech, assembly, and worship.
Most pro democracy organizations called on the Burmese regime to engage in a genuine dialogue with people representatives, including the leaders of the pro-democracy movement and ethnic minority groups.
And also, We demanded the Burmese regime should release those who have been arrested for peacefully expressing their views, including Aung San Suu Kyi, and should also exercise restraint in the face of peaceful protests but the military regime has no intention of cooperating with people representatives or of starting a process of genuine political dialogue or always show signs of overpowering on its own people.
As a result, we confirmed peaceful dialog process is failed, and we need to find ideas of imposing further sanctions in the future or examining the question of possible newly additional measures such as unilateral sanction, the UN mission, or the international military intervention.
In response to the Burmese regime's continued crackdown, the United States and EU have designated many government and military officials and their families as ineligible to receive visas to travel to the United States and EU countries.
Otherwise, more development of imposing on an infamous regime is a necessary step for supporting to end the reign of terror in Burma. Therefore, we, 88 Generation Students’ (Exile), begin a plan to collecting information of the regime and their relatives who currently living in oversea.
